Calgary Foot Orthotics – Start to Finish.

  1. Check with our insurance provider to see how much you’re cover for and if you need a prescription from a physician (Medical Doctor) or a podiatrist.  Alberta Blue Cross will accept prescriptions from a Chiropractor.
  2. Call or book online for an appointment.
  3. When you arrive at your appointment, I will show you the types of orthotics I provide and we will talk about your case.  If we feel you are a fit for the orthotics I provide, we will carry on through the exam and gait analysis.  If not, this is your no-charge consultation.
  4. Perform the exam and gait analysis.
  5. Take an impression of your feet using a foam cast.  Click the photo’s on the website as there are examples of this.
  6. 50% payment is taken at appointment.
  7. The cast and exam results are sent to the lab.  It takes approximately 3 weeks for your orthotics to be fabricated and sent back to the office.  I will give you a call the day they arrive to setup an appointment for you to come in and pick them up.
  8. Pickup your orthotics.  I will go over wear and care instructions regarding your custom foot orthotics.  The remaining balance is paid.  I will provide you with the forms necessary for coverage from your extended health insurance provider that may include: proof of manufacturing, lab invoice, prescription (Alberta Blue Cross), Alberta Blue Cross fabrication form, how orthotics are made and materials used, biomechanical gait analysis, and detailed invoice.

Foot Exam – Bio-mechanical foot and gait analysis

The bio-mechanical and gait analysis takes approximately 30-40 minutes.

  1. Get 2 Pairs of Custom Orthotics
  2. The results of your foot exam and foot impression are sent off to the lab where they take all the results to make your foot orthotics, unique to you.
  3. It takes 2 – 5 weeks and the orthotics will be back in my office ready for you to be fitted so you can be wearing them right away.
